VIDEO: Highs and lows of wheat harvest

A harvest of contrasts has meant variable wheat yields and bushel weights in Norfolk.

The best-performing winter wheat variety has proved to be Invicta at Velcourt’s Eaubrink Farms, near King’s Lynn.

Invicta has yielded 8.5t/ha – some 1.5t less than the five-year average but still well above Oakley, which has yielded just 6.75t/ha.

Bushel weights too are variable, with Invicta measuring 74-75kg/hl and Oakley lagging behind at 68kg/hl.

Farmers Weekly chief reporter Johann Tasker takes a look at the differences in our latest wheat harvest video.
