Berkshire farm wins award for education efforts

A Berkshire farm has won a national competition for educating young people about farming.

Rushall Organic Farm in Bradfield was crowned winner of the Bayer CropScience and Farming and Countryside Education Award for encouraging disadvantaged and children with special needs onto farms.

It was recognised for providing curriculum-based farm visits at its purpose-built education centre, which allow children to see farming in action .

Cliff Marriott from Rushall’s education centre said: “Over 10,000 students visit us annually on school visits and by employing a full time education officer we are able to provide quality education to every visiting child.”
