Family farms invited to apply for free business skills training

Applications are open for the next intake of family farmers wanting to take part in The Prince’s Farm Resilience Programme (PFRP).

The scheme, now in its fifth year, offers free business skills and environmental management training worth £2,000 a farm to family farm businesses with either livestock or dairy as their main enterprise.

The programme is delivered through a series of workshops run in 15 locations across the UK each year, with up to 20 farming families taking part in each location.

The workshops focus on a range of topics, including business planning, understanding accounts, budgeting and environmental planning.

Registrations are open until 31 October 2020, but the workshops will not take place until local social-distancing regulations allow.

Every farm also uses a business health check tool to look at their strengths and weaknesses and benchmark costs against similar farms.
