Farmer faces manslaughter trial over bull attack

A farmer has appeared in court to deny manslaughter over the death of a walker who was killed by a bull.
Paul Geoffrey Waterfall, 39, of Underhill Farm, near Stanford-on-Soar in Nottinghamshire, pleaded not guilty to a charge of manslaughter by gross negligence.
The charge relates to the death of a rambler, Roger Freeman, 63, of Glen Parva, Leicestershire.
Father-of-two Mr Freeman, 63, was attacked by a bull while walking with his wife Glenis on a public footpath through a field at Underhill Farm in Stanford-on-Soar.
Mr Freeman died at the scene from multiple injuries on 12 November 2010.
His wife, then 67, was seriously injured and spent three weeks in hospital. Police said she is continuing her recovery at home.
Mr Waterfall was charged following a joint investigation by Nottinghamshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
He was bailed to appear at Nottingham Crown Court again for a trial on 7 April. The trial is expected to last between four and five weeks.
