Committed to dairy? How about a trip to Shanghai?

Have you ever been to Shanghai? The Milk Development Council and Dairy UK are offering a scholarship for a talented, young individual employed in the dairy industry to attend the 2006 International Dairy Federation Congress in this amazing Chinese city.

The congress boasts 10 conferences covering a wide range of dairy topics from world policy to animal health.

The aim of the trip is to bring well practiced, inventive ideas back to Britain. More than 80 countries will be represented, granting a unique opportunity to forge global contacts in the dairy industry.

Last year’s winner, Joanne Rae, a marketing manager at Robert Wiseman Dairies, called the congress a “fantastic experience.”

Kenny Campbell, a dairy farmer from Dumfriesshire who won the scholarship in 2004, said: “The information I gathered has given me more confidence to make business decisions at home as well as contribute more fully to dairy industry debate.”

Applicants must be younger than 35 on the 1 September 2006. Forms can be downloaded from or from, or call Jennie Weaven on 01285 646 506. The deadline for entries is 11 August.
