Conference to address the ‘Big Food Challenge’

Speakers from government, farming and business will come together on 8 November 2011 to discuss the challenges that face the food and farming industry.

The EFFP’s Annual Conference, Adapting to the Volatile Landscape, will address the big global issues that affect the industry, such as supply and price volatility and strategies to minimise their impact.

Government chief scientist, Sir John Beddington, will open the conference and Farmers Weekly editor, Jane King will take part in an interactive session, giving advice on how food and farming businesses can achieve better communication links.

The conference highlights include sessions on animal breeding, vertical farming, water management and feed technology from leading companies in their fields.

Anna Hill, presenter of the BBC Farming Today programme will quiz a panel of experts on how research and development can help businesses succeed in the volatile landscape.

In its eight year, the EFFP Annual Conference ‘must attend’ events in the food and farming industry.

Farmers Weekly editor, Jane King said: “The EFFP conference is one of the most strategic events in the food and farming calendar.

“It really works hard at bringing together all sides of the supply chain to
reflect, inform and challenge each other.

“It is big on ideas and solutions. Given the pressures right across the industry, a day spent at this conference is time extremely well spent.”
