Consultant resigns from Levy Board UK because of ‘press interest’

The chair-designate of the horticultural sector company which will replace the Horticultural Development Council has offered his resignation from Levy Board UK.

Independent consultant John Hall stated that he felt his position on Levy Board UK had become untenable.

He said that he was concerned that continuing press interest in him may detract from the role to which he had been appointed and so, in the wider interests of the board, he had decided that he should stand-down with immediate effect.

John Bridge, chair-Designate of Levy Board UK, said he accepted with regret Mr Hall’s resignation.

DEFRA, the Scottish Executive and Welsh Assembly government will be advertising for a new Chair of the Horticultural Sector Company and member of Levy Board UK in mid-May.

Arrangements will be put in place immediately to ensure that the horticultural sector continues to have a voice on Levy Board UK and a further announcement will be made shortly.
