Dairy Farmers of Britain announces milk price increase

Dairy farmers supplying liquid milk to Dairy Farmers of Britain are set to receive an extra 0.5p/litre from next month.

The processor announced an increase to the price it pays members for conventional milk from 1 August.

The increase will be supplemented by a “contract premium” of 0.2ppl for all members who signed the DFoB 12-month contract, taking their total increase to 0.7p/litre.

The processor is also set to introduce a “premium quality” bonus of 0.3p/litre for all milk produced to a consistently high hygienic quality.

Matt Sheehan, DFoB director of membership said: “The overall increase, which for many members will total 1.0ppl, is the third milk price rise that we have been able to announce in just over a month and the signs are that the market continues to strengthen.”
