Dairy farmers stage more blockades in Scotland

FARMERS IN Scotland have blockaded eight milk distribution sites for the second time in two weeks.

The protests started at 6am on Thursday (Aug 18) and ran until midday.

Companies understood to be affected by the action include Robert Wiseman Dairies, First Milk, Sorn Milk and Arla.

Speaking from the picket lines, Farmers For Action member and organiser John Cummings said he was very pleased with the protests and very pleased with the media coverage.

“Eight sites are closed and have been since 6am,” he said. “It is hard to say how many farmers are out as they are coming and going, but we are very pleased with the turnout.”
