Farmers Apprentice web-TV goes live

Farmers Apprentice, the eagerly anticipated web-TV series from Farmers Weekly has officially launched.

The trailer for the five-part web-TV series, which will showcase farming as a career and interrogate what it takes to be a successful farmer, can be watched below.

The trailer introduces the 10 finalists and offers a first glimpse at the rigours of bootcamp. The finalists had to compete in a range of tasks that varied from handling livestock and using GPS technology to navigate a top-of-the range tractor around an assault course to creating a brand new flavour of sausages and pitching a new farm enterprise for Reaseheath College to a panel of judges.

See the trailer, above, that kicks off the series.

Reflecting on bootcamp, finalist Annabelle Story, a shepherdess from the Scottish Borders, said “I would definitely recommend bootcamp because it tests you and reveals things about yourself that you never knew; it gets you thinking outside the box, you make great contacts and have an all-round amazing time!”

Fellow finalist, Joneal Bryan from Peckham, south London, added “Not only do you learn a massive amount about farming, but you also get to develop a wide range of skills, and receive advice from truly inspirational people. Plus there’s nothing like sitting on a hay throne, venting to the camera after a hard days work!”

During the series, you will be able to find out more about each of the finalists in the “Diary Shed”, a place where they could take a moment to reflect on their progress in the competition. The series promises a unique examination of what it takes to succeed in farming – head, hands and heart in equal measure. Be sure not to miss it.
