Farming co-op seeks other farmers for Little Chef takeover bid

Farmer consortium Friendly Farmer is looking for other farmers to join them in a bid to take over ailing restaurant chain Little Chef.

The Lincolnshire-based co-op opened its first motorway farm shop in 2005 and is now looking for more members so it can put in an offer for the remaining 190 Little Chef sites across the country.

“Or idea will provide farmers with effective farm shop franchise opportunities with the muscle to compete with bigger buyers,” Robert Elwes of Friendly Farmer said.

Farmers interested in a unit franchise would be offered technical and financial support from the co-op, he added.

Anyone who would like more information should contact Friendly Farmer at by the end of April.
