Interview: NFU president responds to First Milk payment pushback

First Milk’s survival is “desperately important” for dairy farmers, NFU president Meurig Raymond has told Farmers Weekly.
In an interview at the Oxford Farming Conference, Mr Raymond said few, if any, processors were recruiting, so problems at the co-op could force farmers out of business.
On Thursday, First Milk announced it was delaying its members’ next milk cheque by two weeks to plug a multimillion pound cashflow gap.
Mr Raymond talked about how it would affect farmers, what action the NFU was taking and where worried First Milk members can go for help.
Listen to Mr Raymond’s interview with Farmers Weekly chief reporter Johann Tasker below.
