LAA joins NFU case against DEFRA ‘idiots’

The Livestock Auctioneers’ Association has joined forces with the NFU to mount a co-ordinated challenge to DEFRA’s implementation of the Tuberculosis Order 2005.

Earlier this week the LAA decided to drop its own application for judicial review on the issue.

It will now pass on all the information it had gathered to the NFU, to aid its own legal challenge.

“We feel very strongly that the industry should get together for the first time in its life, and take on these idiots in DEFRA to try to get a solution,” said Ben Messer-Bennetts, vice chairman of the LAA.

“We’re all in the same boat and we’ve got to help each other now.”

The LAA said it would continue to keep pressure on the government, and hoped an early day motion tabled in Parliament last week would gain support from MPs.
