Livestock 2012: Why some farms are more successful

A recent study has revealed the reasons why some farms are more successful businesses than others.

Reading University and Promar International, the agricultural consultancy, looked at 100 farms with similar resources to discover the buisness behaviours that made some far more successful financially.

Among the chief reasons were:

  • a focus on maximising profit
  • positivity
  • sharing ideas
  • using benchmarking
  • being ‘on the farm’ not ‘in the office’

Farmers Weekly spoke to David Cooke of Promar to find out more details about the report’s findings.
