A leading one-day event that flockmasters cannot afford to miss will be back next year, continuing to grow in size and attendance year on year.
Sheep South West will be held on Tuesday 9 June 2009 at North Alfordon Farm, Okehampton, Devon. This central location makes it within easy access of the south-west main sheep areas and also national access.
The 500 acres predominately grassland unit is situated on the northern slopes of Dartmoor, rising to 1000ft above sea-level and carries 1200 ewes as well as 200 suckler cows. The sheep enterprise consists of a flock of 500 homebred Scottish Blackfaces and 700 North Country Mule ewes which are now crossed with Suffolk and Texel sires to produce finish lambs for the Luxtons farm shop.
Direct selling is the latest venture on this progressive livestock unit to bring in extra income by adding value and enables the whole family to play a part in its success.
