Minimum wage rise for Scottish farm workers

The minimum wage for agricultural workers in Scotland will increase by 15p/hour to £7.14 from 1 October 2014.

The Scottish Agricultural Wages Board announced the changes, which bring the minimum wage for a 39-hour week to £278.46 for workers employed for more than 26 weeks.

For these workers, the minimum for overtime will rise 22p/hour to £10.71. In the first 26 weeks of employment, workers will be paid a minimum of £6.50/hour, or £9.75/hour for overtime.

Workers on a level two agricultural apprenticeship will see their minimum wage rise to £3.96/hour.
