Muller Wiseman increases milk price by 1p/litre

Müller Wiseman is the latest processor to up its milk price, offering producers in its Müller Wiseman Milk Group (MWMG) an increase of 1p/litre from 1 June.

The 381 producers will have their standard litre milk price increased to 31.5p/litre.

Lower production on farms and strengthening of global dairy commodity values have driven the increase, the company said.

“Our milk price from June reflects continuing pressure on milk supplies and a strengthening in global dairy markets,” said supply chain planning director Martin Armstrong.

“We believe that it is improtant to act in order to secure the milk required to meet our customers’ requirements.”

MWMG chairman Roddy Catto said members were being sent written confirmation of the price increase.

“We have had a very difficult start to the year. Milk production is down not just in the UK but around the world and we note increases in the value of dairy commodities as a result,” he said.

The price rise follows recent increases by Arla Milk Link, Dairy Crest and the Co-op.
