New First Milk boss brings in top staff

First Milk’s new boss has reshuffled his top team as part of his plan to turnaround the struggling dairy co-op.

Chief executive Mike Gallacher has brought in a new operations director, group HR director and interim managing director for the sports nutrition business, CNP.

All three have started work straightaway.

Mr Gallacher will be explaining details of his plan for the co-op at member meetings in the first two weeks of May.

He said the new appointments will bring high levels of leadership, drive and commercial experience and play a key part in the turnaround plan.

“The new appointments strengthen the First Milk leadership team as we move rapidly to improve the First Milk business performance.”

New operations director Kenny Bain is now in charge of First Milk’s factories, its distribution network and supply chain deals.

He previously ran Associated British Food’s Ryvita site in Poole, following jobs with Unilever and Mars.

First Milk’s statement said Mr Bain had “the clear objective of improving the returns which are passed back to our members”.

Maureen Ross will be the new group HR director, after senior posts at Scottish Leather Group, Compass, Barratt Developments and Santander.

And new sports nutrition MD Paul Miley joins First Milk following roles at Mars, Michelin and ICI.
