New investment for Suffolk abattoir

Suffolk meat company C&K Group has announced details of a new investment that will help it expand production and promote local meat in eastern England.

The Group has been given a £1.4m grant by the East of England Development Agency to upgrade its Lamberts abattoir near Eye, which was built in 1962 and has been working at capacity for a number of years.

The new 40,000 sq foot development will feature a number of environmental features, including rainwater harvesting, voltage optimisation and energy efficient boilers.

The project will also promote the “Glocal Pride” brand, encouraging producers to “think global and act local”.

“This represents the fulfilment of a dream to us as a family business as we have a fantastic team who really care about the quality of their work and the future of the meat sector in the region,” C&K Group’s Kevin Burrows said.
