RPA reveals value of flat-rate part of the SFP

The Rural Payments Agency has established the value of the regional or flat-rate part of farmers’ single farm payments in England.

This has been possible because the agency began the process of definitively establishing entitlements on Tuesday (14 Feb).

The bulk of farmers’ payments in 2005 will be based on historic receipts with the flat-rate element being just 10% of the available funds.

But the historic element of the payment will be reduced over the next seven years and by 2012 the flat-rate element will account for 100% of the SFP.

The flat rate values for the three English regions in 2005 are as follows:

Lowland – £19.23/ha
Severely Disadvantaged Area land – £16.08/ha
Moorland – £2.29/ha
