The Conservative Party has launched a new campaign which aims to get England’s farmers paid at least 80% of their single farm payment by 25 December.
The Make Them Pay By Christmas Day campaign is running on the Tory Party website, where people are being encouraged to sign a petition and give comments on their experiences.
Shadow DEFRA secretary Peter Ainsworth said: “The failure of last year’s single farm payment scheme has been a complete disaster for English farmers.
“It has left thousands contemplating leaving the industry and many more suffering anxiety and stress.
“The Make Them Pay By Christmas Day campaign aims to force the government to make these payments and relieve some of the stress faced by England’s farmers.”
