Pennys Vamp blooms at White Rose Lim fixture

The White Rose Limousin Group – a band of breeders committed to high genetic merit cattle – staged its annual sale at Carlisle where a crowd pleaser from the Pennys herd of Paul and Penny Walker made the top price of 3600gns.

Their maiden heifer Pennys Vamp is out of a Ronick Iceman dam and by Mas Du Clo, a high ranking, performance-recorded sire from France.

She has an EBV of +28 and a 400 day-weight of 448kg.

She was bought by A Roberts for an undisclosed client.

The sale included a guest consignment from Paul Byas of Driffield, a neighbour to the White Rose Group.

It produced the sale’s second-highest call when Middledale Valerie realised 3000gns to Andrew Ewing, Annan, Dumfriesshire.

Valerie is by the Greensons Gigolo son Rombalds Rapier and out of a dam by Heroique.

This served heifer has an EBV of +27 and was in-calf to Millstone Urbi, a Tunnelby Monkeytricks son.

Mr Ewing also gave 2600gns for the 2000-bred cow Middledale Rosabel.

Another by Heroique, she was suckling a December-born bull calf by Rapier and was in-calf to him again.

Jim Bloom’s Scorboro herd sent his best over the Irish Sea when C Adams, Co Down, paid 2000gns for the 11-month-old heifer Scorboro Aspen.

By Loganburn Talisman she has an EBV of +37.

Best for Mark Woolhouse’s Rachels herd was a 1600gns call from T R & E A Milburn, Carlisle, for the Penny’s Nimrod-sired maiden heifer Rachels Valery.

Averages: Scorboro – four heifers £1417, Pennys – 10 heifers £1386, Rachels – 11 heifers £1126, Middledale – four heifers £1076, one served heifer £3150 and 12 cows 1430.
