A total of 347 store cattle went under the hammer on Friday (15 February) at Knighton Livestock Market. Store steers averaged 242.25p/kg and £1,038.28 a head, reaching a top price of 321p/kg for five 346kg three-quarter bred Limousin steers at £1,110 apiece from G E Evans & Son, Upper Ffrydd. Store heifers averaged 209.68p/kg and £874.68 each.

McCartneys reported an entry of 875 store sheep, including 194 in-lamb ewes. A firmer store hogget trade averaged £45.15 a head and sold to £64 a head for Texel cross ram and wether hoggets from C Gittoes & Son, Village Farm. The sale included a special entry of dry ewe hoggets averaging £62.33 a head and a dispersal sale of Texel cross Berrichon in-lamb ewes, which sold to £152 a head.
