Unearthing the biomass benefits

Farm leaders were disappointed about the omission of a Renewable Heat Obligation by the Biomass Task Force.

They held the view that an obligation would drive development of the sector because it would force energy suppliers to demonstrate they had substituted renewable heat for fossil-powered heat.

But their criticisms meant attention was diverted away from some important conclusions that were included in the document.

The report also pointed out that what is seen by some as tomorrow’s fuel is actually here today.

So what is FW’s verdict on some of the key recommendations?
