Wool snaps wanted for Young Farmer photo comp

Members of Young Farmers Clubs will have a chance to showcase their photography skills by entering a new competition run by the National Federation of YFCs and the British Wool Marketing Board.

The contest aims to represent “the origin of wool” and will be launched at the Young Farmers’ annual convention in Blackpool on 7 May.

The winning entry will be displayed in a special exhibition – ‘Wool Modern’ – to be held in London during September as part of this year’s Wool Week promotions.

“We feel this is a great opportunity for Young Farmers to show their own part of the wool story – wool originates on-farm and there is so much that can be captured in a single photograph that says so much about British wool and its origin,” says Gareth Jones, producer relations manager at the British Wool Marketing Board.

“By working with the Young Farmers Clubs we are hoping to discover some creative talent that offers a great picture for the CfW and captivates the wool story.

“The prize will position the winning photograph in an exhibition that will see thousands of visitors over the course of a month, so it is quite a significant accolade and we hope it inspires people to join in and promote their club and British wool.”

The closing date is Sunday 7 August 2011.
