Cereals 2019: Horsch adds cheaper AX to Leeb sprayer range

Horsch has established itself as one of the lead names in the trailed sprayer conversation, but its Leeb machines tend to be priced at the upper end of the market.

However, the company has now added a cheaper model to its portfolio that should appeal to those working with slightly tighter budgets.

The good news is that the AX-badged versions still get Horsch’s sought-after boom levelling system, albeit only on boom widths from 18m to 30m.

Capacity of the plastic spray tank is 3,800 litres – just shy of the smallest LT model, at 4,000 litres – and standard spec includes a 270-litres/min piston-diaphragm pump, though it can be upgraded to a 400-litres/min unit for faster fill times.

Nozzle spacing is at 50cm and buyers can add auto section shut-off and other nice-to-have features, though these will obviously push the price closer to LT territory.

Control-wise, the AX can work via Isobus or be ordered with its own terminal for the tractor cab.

A steering drawbar is standard, as is adjustable track width from 1.5m to 2.25m.

Prices for the AX kick off at £50,000. As a means of comparison, a well-specced 5 LT with 36m booms has a list price of nearer £100,000.
