Royal farm is up for sale
Carter Jonas is selling Salthaugh Grange Farm at Keyingham, East Yorkshire, for the Crown Estate.
The 485-acre farm is an off-lying part of the Crown’s 12,500-acre Sunk Island Estate near to the Humber and is being sold following the end of the existing farm business tenancy.
“We are still committed to our rural estate and looking to buy,” said Nick Harper, the Crown’s head of rural asset management.
Andrew Fallows, who is handling the sale, said the farm, which includes a main Grade II listed house and two three-bedroom houses, was in a very productive area and its Grade 2 soil yielded 4.5t/acre of wheat and could grow root crops if required.
He is looking to guide the sale at upwards of ÂŁ2.6m, which he said valued the land at about ÂŁ3250/acre.
There is 1500t of grain storage and also a 32,000sq ft poultry unit.
This was built by the tenant and must be purchased for an additional ÂŁ150,000.
