Final right-to-roam regions open on Oct 31
DEFRA HAS announced that the right-to-roam will be in operation across all of England’s open country and registered common land from Oct 31.
Completion of access across the country will be finalised when the West and East of England open up to walkers on that date.
Junior DEFRA minister Jim Knight said: “This is good news for walkers in these two areas but more significantly it marks the achievement to introduce the new right throughout the whole of England by the end of this year.
“This has been a key part of the government’s rural commitment and has been eagerly awaited by walkers across England.
“To introduce the new right ahead of target will be a remarkable achievement on the part of many people and organisations.”
