New guidance on legal hunting activities published by the Countryside Alliance and the Council of Hunting Associations aims to ridicule the legislation banning fox hunting by sending hunts out in pursuit of rabbits.
Reported in Monday’s Times (26 Sep) the guidance promotes hunts to exploit a loophole in the law allowing the legal hunting of rabbits with packs of hounds and riders on horse back.
While in the course of hunting rabbits the pack should pick up the scent of a fox than the huntsmen are being told to claim that the act was unintentional and an accident.
Contained within the guidance is advice on dealing with journalists.
After a hunt saboteur infiltrated a hunt claiming to be a journalist hunts are being advised to consider the benefit of allowing a journalist to attend and what freedom they should be given if they are.
