Lincs Wolds farm boasts 925 acres

Lincolnshire agent Masons has added a sizeable contender to the county’s burgeoning land market.

The firm is selling 925-acre Priory Farm at Burwell in the Lincs Wolds, near Louth, on behalf of a vendor who is retiring from farming to pursue other interests.

Agent David Williams said the launch date was later than expected because of complications over transfer of single farm payment entitlements.

However, Mr Williams said he saw no reason why farms should not be sold at any time of the year.

“We were planning to launch earlier, but then DEFRA said single farm payments wouldn’t be paid until January or February.”

He said the aim was to complete the sale after the vendor had received his entitlements but before the cut-off date for claiming 2006 payments.

Mr Williams has priced the Grade 2 arable farm, which includes a four-bed house and 3000t of grain storage, at 2.9m.

There was likely to be lots of interest, he said.

“There have been very few 900-acre Wolds farms up for sale recently.”
