Rsabi highlights heating support for farming families
© Rasbi The Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution (Rsabi) is reminding Scotland’s farming and crofting community that Help for Heating payments of at least £400 are available this winter for households struggling with rising fuel costs.
The charity, which provides emotional, practical and financial support, said the payments are aimed at reducing fuel poverty among people currently working in, or retired from, Scottish agriculture.
The funding is designed to help households heat their homes during colder months.

Rsabi said eligible households can receive a minimum payment of £400, with applications assessed through an online tool on the charity’s website, or by contacting its freephone support line on 0808 1234 555.
Case officers are available to guide applicants through the process.
Rsabi welfare manager Chris McVey said: “Rural properties can often be older and more challenging to heat, and with the ongoing cost-of-living challenge, many are facing mounting financial pressure.
“As the temperature drops, it’s important to make sure that you and your home are kept warm.”
He added: “Our Help for Heating payments are simple and quick to apply for and, with funding typically £400 per household, they are available to those spending more than 10% of their household income on heating costs.”
Rsabi said the heating payments form part of a wider package of support available to those experiencing financial hardship.
The charity is urging individuals concerned about heating costs to make contact to discuss available assistance.
Mr McVey added: “In cases where finances have become really difficult, we can also very quickly arrange a pre-paid debit card to pay for grocery shopping.
“We can also arrange purchases for when household goods break down, and people are struggling to pay for replacement items,” he said.
