Warwickshire-based Heather Ross is the winner of Farmers Weekly’s 2015 harvest front cover competition.

Farmers Weekly coverShe captured this stunning image of husband Gordon combining Claire winter wheat on the family’s dairy and arable farm in Nether Whitacre.

“The 2015 harvest has been great for pictures and I have been getting in my husband’s way all summer trying to get a good photo,” she said.

“There have been lovely sunsets and unusual cloud formations, which means there are some great photos around. I love taking pictures, but I’m definitely still a novice and learning by trial and error.

“Harvest 2015 had been ticking along nicely with good yields but, along with everyone else, it has now come to a complete standstill. We only have a small amount of wheat left, but have oats and spring barley we want to get in before they get too flattened.”

With her daughter Kate away studying dance at Liverpool University and son Sam just starting an agriculture course at Reaseheath College in Cheshire, she reckoned it would be very quiet in the Ross household this year.

It looks as if she might get more time to hone her photography skills further.
