Auction route raises interest in farmland

Carter Jonas plans to increase its use of collective auctions to sell farmland this year.

One of the main attractions for vendors was the speed with which properties could be sold, said Arthur Chambers of the Chippenham office.

“For our latest auction in Bath, three lots of farmland sold strongly before the event as the concentration of potential buyers for each focused the attention of those who were really serious.”

Seven auctions were held in Bath and Oxford and four further individual sales in Newbury, Northampton, and Yorkshire. This year five sales are scheduled in Bath and four in Oxford.
