Farmers Weekly‘s Land Tracker measures the number of acres advertised in the magazine.
It measures land and farms in Great Britain, does include sporting estates and hill land, and does not duplicate if a farm is advertised more than once – thus providing a useful indicator of the amount of publically marketed farmland.
After nearing parity with last year in early-to-mid-June, the available acreage has since fallen sharply away, and the gap between 2008 and 2009 has widened from -3% to -13 % in the past five weeks. Last year, the Land Tracker showed 183,462 acres advertised in FW by the end of the year.
