Origin labelling for Australia

Australia is set to introduce compulsory country of origin labelling on a wide range of foods, both in the packaged and bulk sectors.

The legislation is due to be passed at the end of the month and will improve transparency for the whole food chain, according to Australian agriculture minister Peter McGauran.

“The changes will help inform consumers who want to support local producers and buy Australian grown products,” he said.
