£2,500 top at Lancaster monthly dairy auction

North West Auctions Lancaster Mart reported a strong trade at their monthly dairy sale with more stock needed to meet demand.


Topping the sale was a £2,500 bid for Stardale Minister Millie. Bred from five generations VG/EX she sold to an undisclosed Irish buyer.


The show champion then achieved the next best call of £2,380. Arnot Freda 200 was put forward by A R and J Whitlow, Poulton-le-Fylde, and was sold to judge, Mr H Evans from Anglesey, giving 41 litres having been calved six weeks.


Then an £2,250 was heifer Wyresdale Principal Bettina 110 from M J and H Atkinson, Lancaster, which sold to J J Henderson, Carlisle after being placed reserve.


In-calf heifers were in strong demand topping at £1,800 from F W Herd and Son, Carnforth, for strong Holstein heifers and £1,350 for a Red and White heifer from H Fearon, Cartmel.  Bulls sold to £1,400 for Pennine Mischeif from Drinkall Bros, Lancaster again to an Irish buyer.
