3000gns top bid at Borderway Holstein show and sale

A superb consignment of freshly calved cows and heifers were forward at the Border and Lakeland Holstein Club show and sale Borderway Mart, Carlisle which was realised in a top price of 3000gns.   

 

Champion 210710.JPGLeading the day’s trade was the champion on the day Boclair Lou Elegance coming from seven generation of Excellent classified cows. Sired by Jeeny-Lou Marshall and out of a VG85 two year Durham dam this one consigned by J Brewster, Boclair Farm was purchased by A and B Bargh, Woodclose, Skelton.

 

The second top price was for the reserved champion the two year old from the Hodgson family, Wormanby Farm, Burgh by Sands. Wormanby Champion Lisa is sired by Champion from six dams classified in the top two grades.  She was producing 34kgs and sold for 2400gns to J and J Barr Farm, Easter Bucklyvie, Fife 

 

Reserve 210710.JPG Regular consignors Skirwith Hall Farms had another fantastic consignment their top price selling for 2250gns.  She was a daughter of Pachecas Aaron Almeria from the high producing Juliet family at Stowbeck, she now joins the herd of J and J Barr Farm, Easter Bucklyvie, Fife.

 

The Brough’s from Bolton Cottage Farm, Bolton Low Houses sold a deep bodied powerful heifer for 2150gns.  She was sired by Berryholme Flo Emense, a son of the All Britain Holmland Storm Flo EX94 her maternal line consisted of an Excellent dam and Very Good 87 grand dam. 

 

First time consignor Noel McCarragher, Fernycleugh, Lochmaben consigned six dairy heifers all with supper udders and tremendous legs and feet.  These heifers attracted brisk bidding with two heifers topping at 1750gns.
