Aberdeen Angus females top 3,000gns at UA

The September offering of pedigree Aberdeen-Angus females at United Auctions, Stirling, on Saturday, saw a top price of 3,000gns for the six year old cow Varis Proud Petra H716 from Messrs A and C Grant.


By Curzon Entertainer C088, she is out of the Mushroom Friar Fergus daughter Varis Proud Petra and was sold with her May-born bull calf at foot by Mosston Muir Major Boy L274 to Iain Colville, who is establishing a new herd in Newtonards, Northern Ireland.


The Duns-based Cheeklaw herd belonging to David Lucas was next in action when selling the April 2011-born Cheeklaw Black Buxley L403 for 2,500gns to Hugh Montgomery, Assloss.


This one is by Easton Greys Joseph Eric C100 and is out of a Tweedside Jewgal EricZ083 daughter and sold with her Cardona Proud Punch L752 sired heifer calf at foot.


Ewan Brewis then sold Eastfield Fawnia L283, a three-year old cow by Rawburn Rochester E424, for 2,500gns. She’s out of a Lockerely Kruz Z310 daughter and joined the load back to Northern Ireland with Iain Colville.


Joining her at 2,000gns was the April 2011-born Eastfield Jen L272 from Ewan Brewis. By Rochester, she is out of a Blelack Evor C732 daughter and was sold with an August-born bull calf at foot by Halbeath Kansas L429.


Maiden heifers sold to a top of 1,800gns for Cherrybank Edwina N607 from George and Aileen McFadzean. Born in March 2013, this one is by Billinge Magic Jester Eric K300, and is out of a homebred Calfward Flyer D075 daughter. She was purchased by J Howatson, Strutherhead Farm.
