AgriLIVE’s demise could be regional events’ bonus

The shock news yesterday that AgriLIVE Smithfield will not take place this year has seen a flurry of activity from a number of regional events all hopeful of pulling in extra exhibitors as a result.

So, here’s a quick run down of the larger regional shows which are looking to tempt you their way this winter.

First up is Agri-Expo at Carlisle on 29 October, for which entries close this coming Monday. Judges for this one are Brian Glaves for the sheep and Aarfon Jones for the cattle, this one will also host the national Aberdeen-Angus winter show and other calf shows too. Following that is the East of England Winter Stock Festival at Peterborough on 11 and 12 November. Judges here are Andrew Bishop for the sheep and Liz Vance for the cattle, entries close on 4 October. Contact Kerry Buttriss for more information 01733 234 451.

Then its the South East Primestock Winter Fayre at Ardingly. This one is on 23 November and cattle judge is Paul Walker, with Robin Slade judging the sheep. Entries for this one run until 25 October and the south east Charolais club will have a calf show there too. Contact Mary Masters for more information 01273 517 824.

And finally there is the South West Winter Fair at Sedgemoor on 6 December. Judging the cattle here will be Robert Bowring, Derbyshire, while the sheep judge has yet to be announced. Contact Adam Hayes for more information – 01278 410 278.
