A new badger-proof feed supplement holder has been released by Dallas Keith.
The cattle supplement block holder places the block 3ft 6in above the ground, preventing badgers from licking and soiling them, says Chris Willett, Dallas Keith’s managing director.
“Badgers’ urine, faeces and saliva are known sources of cross contamination, so blocks placed at ground height can be significant sources of infection.”
“The risk of contamination can be virtually eliminated by putting the blocks out of badgers’ reach.”
This is particularly important when cattle are on summer grazing, where potentially blocks are the only source of supplementation available to counterbalance the low trace element and mineral content of grass.
