Beef Shorthorn takes Great Yorkshire beef interbreed

One of this season’s top performing show bulls, Beef Shorthorn bull Tojan of Craigeassie from Charles and Sally Horrell and family, has just taken the beef interbreed title here at Great Yorkshire.1272011 GYS Beef Shorthorn.JPGThis six year old bull is senior herd sire for the Horrell’s Pode Hole herd and has sold sons to 14,500gns, having been bought for 6000gns himself in 2008.

He is by Belmore Fuel Injected and out of Kathleen of Craigeassie and was interbreed champion at last month’s East of England and Royal Highland shows. His Harrogate win marked the end of his show career and he now returns home to work.

Standing reserve was the Limousin champion, Brockhurst Bolshoi from Doug Mash. This Grahams Samson daughter is out of Ronick McAinsi and was shown by Dougie McBeath and partner Sarah Jane Jessop for Mr Mash. 1272011 GYS Lim Champ.JPGShe calved in April and has previously been reserve champion at last week’s Doune and Dunblane Show. Her next outing will be the National Limousin Show at Carlisle at the end of July.
