Beef farmers to demonstrate benefits of precision technology

Leading beef farmers using new innovations and technologies to improve herd performance will be among the line-up of speakers at this year’s Precision Beef Management event.

Covering both suckler and finishing production systems, the day aims to inform and inspire producers to push productivity and profitability.

Guest speakers include Farmers Weekly’s Farmer Focus writer Paul Westaway, with strategies to improve breeding, vet Jonathan Statham on the options available for improving fertility and Beef Farmer of the Year 2012, James Evans, on how he’s implemented technology on farm for this purpose.

Following on from this is an update on the ear tag that monitors body temperature by Tim Farrow and how EID is improving this year’s Beef Farmer of the Year finalist Meilir Jones’ herd health.

Adam Quinney will show how data collected on his farm has improved feed efficiency and Eblex’s Mary Vickers will discuss a new research project identifying EBV’s for feed efficiency.

Organised by Innovation for Agriculture, the event on 1 July will be held at the Bath and West Showground, Somerset.
