Danseur daughter tops Tamhorn Blues selection
The third production sale from Jane and Danny Wylie’s Tamhorn Belgian Blue herd saw a top price of 10,000gns at Chelford agricultural centre last weekend.
And it was Adam Neachell, of Staffs-based Cromwell Belgian Blues, who paid the top price for Unamite De Cras Avernas, a three-year-old imported heifer sired by Danseur D’Embise.
“This powerful blue-and-white heifer is sure to make a strong cow,” said Mr Neachell, who bought her for flushing after calving in January to Tamhorn Sumo.
Matching the 10,000gns bid was a heifer who had already sparkled on the show circuit.
Offered as a guest consignment by the Birch family, Boomer Witney sold to Philip Halhead of Norbreck Genetics, who plans to flush her to their successful Belgian bull Dafydd D’Ochain.
Mr Neachell was in again at 8700gns to take a heifer sired by Dafydd.
Eight-month-old Tamhorn Anastacia is half-sister to the famous Tamhorn Sumo and one of the best daughters by Leverhulme Nimbus, reckoned Mr Neachell, who plans to show her next year.
Topping the day for Jim Barber’s Astbury herd consignment was Astbury Ulrika.
Half-sister to last year’s Royal Show champion Threeways Superstar, she is by Sceptre De Bomal and sold to Roger Birch at 4000gns.
Ernie Hemming’s Paulern herd topped at 3000gns, given by the Lewis family of Powys for Paulern Ulrika.
Sired by Affute, she is out of the easy-calving Lasborough line.
A selection of bulls was offered, with a leading bid of 3000gns coming for Tamhorn Woodstock from Messrs Wade of West Yorks.
