Market Report: Mixed outlook for beef

Beef producers face mixed prospects over the next 12 months and beyond, warns EBLEX.

Supplies of UK beef this year will be 5% higher than in 2009, while imports will be roughly the same as last year and export growth will be difficult.

However, the national kill will fall by 2% next year. The mixed outlook is further complicated by higher calf registrations in 2010, which seems likely to result in higher domestic supplies from 2012.
