Served Limousin clocks 13,000gns

Midlands breeder Malcolm Smith’s Jencralodge Limousin herd produced the star of a three-herd sale at Carlisle last weekend when his served heifer, Jencralodge Utopia, made 13,000gns.

Claimed by an undisclosed buyer, this ET-bred heifer is by Neutron and out of Jodie, the herd’s top cow by Tanholm Claus.

Utopia has an EBV of 22.

Sharing the ring were Robert and Marcia Birkett’s Aldwyck herd from Bristol.

Their best was a 5000gns bid for Aldwyck Fenella, a 15-year-old cow by Talent suckling a heifer calf by the noted French sire Mas Du Clo.

Buyers were N and E Cruickshank, Lanark.

A production sale from Thirsk, North Yorks, breeder Sarah Clubley’s Springside herd reached 3600gns for Hopehouse Paige.

This 1999-bred Redpaths Mascot daughter was suckling a bull calf by Woodhouse Pugh and joins W and J Mash’s herd in Bucks.
