Trevan Holsteins’ four-figure bids
A steady stream of four-figure bids peaked at 2050gns and pushed the average for the 73 cows offered at the Trevan Holstein herd dispersal to 1164.
Vendors Harry and David Evans of Monmouth saw 33 head make 1000gns and over but it was the calved heifer Trevan Calano Matilda that saw most interest.
By Var Calano, she had already given 8324kg in her first 220 days and was still yielding 35.3kg a day.
Due in July to Lutz Brookview Burt, she was bought by Herefordshire dairy farmers M & S Pugh of Bodenham.
Messrs Pugh also gave 2000gns for a daughter of Cedar-Creek Bergwil who was three weeks into her second lactation and had given 11,220kg as a heifer.
She shared the ride home with another third calver by Bergwil out of an 11,000kg Cogent Luther dam. She was giving 39kg a day after calving two months ago and made 1900gns.
Cornwall dairy farmers W & J Cowling bought an Ideal Ags third-calver at 1900gns.
She had given just over 12,000kg with her second calf.
The same buyers also paid 1800gns for a second-calver by Cogent Maelstrom giving almost 50kg on the day.
Averages: 73 cows 1164, seven served heifers 760, 15 bulling heifers 603 and nine yearling heifers 551.
