Beltex females attract 2,400gns leading bid at Carlisle

A leading bid of 2,400gns was achieved when in-lamb Beltex females went under the hammer at Carlisle.

 

Sale leader and show stopper was the day’s overall champion, Matthew Burleigh’s ewe lamb Matt’s Touchy sired by Pentland Showman and out of an Eskdale Lionheart dam.  She sold to G and F Burke, Angus.

Next best at 1,700gns was K and R Buckle’s shearling gimmer Broxty Sugar Plum, sired by Dooley Napal and out of the Newton Leo dam Rampson Niagara Falls. She sold in lamb to Ardstewart Super Mario and heads home with KJ Armistead, Cumbria.

At 1,550gns was S Wood’s shearling gimmer 1051.0223, sired by CUSKO Van’t Hoeksken. She sold in lamb to Hannibal and was purchased by WS and JM Dinsdale, Penrith, Cumbria.

 

A bid of 1,400gns secured James McGarva’s aged ewe Horseclose Rainbow Star. Sired by Horseclose Power House and out of a Kinchyle Kinsman dam, she sold to G and T Fitzsimon and sons, Dumfries, having been served to Southern Acres Ptolomey.

Averages: 15 ewes, £599.90; 43 shearling gimmers, £604.26; 22 ewe lambs, £689.66; five pregnancies, £693. Overall 85 head, £649.02.
