Blackford Simmentals head south to NFUS boss

Having just sold off his dairy herd it seems Jim McLaren the president of the Scottish NFU is keen to keep cattle grazing at his unit at Dargill, Crieff, and has bought most of the Blackford herd of Simmentals from Billy MacPherson and daughter Anne in a private deal.

There had, I believe, been plans afoot for a sale of the herd later in the year, but it seems Mr McLaren came up with an offer too good to refuse to secure 51 head of the herd for his new enterprise.
