Breeding cattle at Carlisle top at £2000 for a Blue cross heifer

Last Friday’s monthly sale of breeding cattle at Borderway Mart saw an entry of 242 cows/heifers and calves and bulling heifers forward. A plainer show of cows and heifers with calves meant some were hard to sell on previous sales, however quality outfits still met spirited bidding.

Topping the sale at £2000 was a British Blue cross heifer and calf from Messrs MacDonald, Ladyhousesteads, and again at the same money for a Limousin heifer with calf at foot from Messrs Robinson of Gelt Hall Farm.

Bulling heifers met a good demand selling to £860 for a quality heifer shown by Messrs Thomlinson, Standingstone.
