I’m still waiting on a full report from the weekend’s Texel sale at Welshpool, but here’s what I’ve managed to glean so far.
Topping the money was Glenside Ripvanwinkle, a Strathbogie Python son ET bred out of a Baileys Mega daughter form John Forsyth. He sold at 4000gns to S I Lewis, Rhos.
Then at 3800gns was Mellor Vale Reyna, a Baltier Panther son out of a Garngour Maestro sired dam from Charlie Boden. He was ET bred out a dam bought from the Claybury flock for 4000gns. He sold to P J Evans, Brecon.
Following on from that at 3000gns was the champion from the pre-sale show from Procters Farm. This one was Procters Rocco, a Kerryhill Oliver son ET bred out of an Irish dam from the Chessy flock and sired by Tullagh Neptune. This one went to D T and O M Morgan, Brecon.
And making 2800gns was another from John Forsyth, Glenside Rapper, a Strathbogie Python son out of a dam by Castlecairn L A Lover. He headed to D R Owen and Son, Tywyn.
Selling at 1800gns was Mellor Cale Ramirez from Charlie Boden. This one is the same way bred as the 3800gns sheep and sold to G and J Probert, Leominster.
Then making 1550gns was Ettrick Rio Grande from Gordon Gray. This one is a Mitchehill Paparazzi son out of a dam by Clynnog Joe Tex. This ET bred lamb has an index of 255 and was fifth prize at the Great Yorkshire. Buyer here was P A Kermode, Isle of Man.
In the shearlings the top bid was a 1500gns call for ClunPhantom from A E Williams, a Wolfclyde Nitor son out of a dam by ClunJewel. He sold to D T A Williams, Montgomery.
